1. Make Their Needs And Wants A Priority!
Step one is for you to help your prospects see and understand the problems they face now and will face in the future. You will want to get them to talk a lot about what they need and want. You need to get them emotionally involved… So that they will want to make solving those problems their priority. You do that by asking them the right questions… and then you ask lots of follow-up questions!
Examples: “When do you want to retire?” “How much income do you want when you retire?” “What do you want to do when you retire?” “Will that income be enough to do all that?” And then ask a lot more questions!
Consider, that people need a good reason for them to want help to find the money to buy whole life or index universal life insurance. But, you can not tell them. You have to ask questions to help people to figure it out for themselves!
Tip… Help your prospects to decide what they believe is their most pressing concern/problem (not what you believe).
2. Find Where They Spend Their Money!
The next step is to find out where they have and spend their money. Do they put money into a retirement plan? Do they have money in a college fund? Or, do they have money in a CD? Or maybe they pay extra on their mortgage, so they can pay it off early? Do they have a lot of credit card debt? Do they spend some of their money in the wrong places? You need to know where their money is and where they spend it… if you want to help people find the money to buy whole life or index universal life insurance?
Tips… Do NOT try to convince them to move any of that money. Make suggestions to see how they feel about moving the money. Do not go into a lot of detail. Because the more you tell them, the more questions they will have. And the more complicated the sale will be! Keep your answers to their questions short, simple, and to the point!
3. Make Your Solution Logical And Simple!
The final step is to present your ideas logically… and keep it simple! Just compare in simple terms what they do now… to what you recommend they do! Use a simple two-page presentation to give them the bottom line! And then to close the sale you will just say… “If you keep doing what you are doing, here is what you will have. If you move the money, then here is what you will have. Now, which way makes the most sense to you?”
Tips… Keep it simple… Decide on the easiest way for you to make them a client. Try to keep the amount they spend the same as they spend now! Do not try to solve all their problems at once. Because they will have to make too many decisions. Make them a client first. You will have plenty of time to fix their other problems once you make them a client and gain their trust!
Help People Find The Money!
When you help people find the money you will be able to close a lot more and much larger life insurance sales… Plus when you take the time to learn how to help people find the money… You will close sales for disability, long-term care, final expenses, annuities, etc.! But only if you keep the sales process and the sale simple.
