But, just because they are common sense, doesn’t mean they aren’t important tips to grow your life insurance sales to reach your goals!

Tip For Selling Insurance 1. Don’t wait for things to get better – You have to make them better! Do you know what most agents do when times are bad like they are today? They hunker down and just hope that things will get better. But, even when the economy was thriving, agents were going broke. Because they refused to make changes! They kept on doing what did not work and just hoped that things would get better! Things didn’t get better back then and they won’t today in one of the worst times in our history!

Many of the agents that we work with have just finished their best year ever. And they were able to grow their insurance sales because they focused on how to really help people!

Tip For Selling Insurance 2.  Stop wasting your time. Remember that time is money. So do not waste it. Start today, to manage your time better. Don’t waste your time on minor things. Delegate as much as you can if you want to grow your insurance sales.

This is one of the most important tips for selling insurance! Maintain a ‘to-do list.’ Write down everything that you need to get done today. Then, write a second list of things that need to be done this week. List things in order of importance with the “must-do” items at the top. Once you see what needs to be done on paper, then it is much easier to keep your mind on track.

Make it a habit throughout the day to ask, “Is this the best use of my time, right now?” If the answer is “no,” then go and do whatever it is that you have avoided.

Tip For Selling Insurance 3. Build positive relationships. Look at the people that you are around. Are they the right people for what you need and want to achieve? Being around negative people will cause you to make bad decisions. That is because the people that you associate with have an impact on how you think.

Find a mentor and listen to the people that have done whatever it is that you want to achieve. Let these people be the ones that influence your thinking, and learn from them to grow your insurance sales.

Build a support team that will encourage you and will keep you accountable. Surround yourself with people that will encourage you and will celebrate your success! Because they are the people that will keep you motivated and will increase your chances of reaching your goals of growing your insurance sales.

Tip For Selling Insurance 4. Spend less time watching TV. If you watch TV in the evenings, then spend less time in front of the TV screen. Instead, use that TV time to sharpen your sales skills. Just one hour less TV time each weeknight will give you 20 hours of study time each month to help you grow your insurance sales.

First, you need to define a specific set of insurance sales goals that you want to achieve. Then set a time frame you want to achieve them! If you do not know what you want and when you want it, you will run the risk of getting distracted and not reaching your goal! 

Take the time to set tangible, measurable, and time-specific insurance marketing, sales, and income goals. Then write down a plan on how you will grow your sales to achieve your goals for selling insurance.

There are thousands of places on the Internet that will explain how to set your insurance sales goals. Just remember to keep it simple and then back the goals up with your plan of action.

Tip For Selling Insurance 6. Sharpen your image. Agents who look like all the other agents are like all the other agents! This is how your customers think. So your task is to find what will make a difference to your clients. So you stress those in everything you do.

Specialization casts an aura of superiority and exclusivity. When you deal with a specialist, you automatically think that person has a lot more expertise and knowledge. So they can offer you greater advice and service. When you work with a unique market, people will think that you have a better understanding of their needs and concerns.

Tip For Selling Insurance 7. Develop your unique message. In business, it is great to learn from others. But it is really important to have your own, unique message. This means you have to have the courage to say what you mean and mean what you say!

Remember, all of your prospects want to know how they will benefit from working with you. “What’s in it for me?” So, unless you can answer this question to their satisfaction, you will have no chance of getting them to meet with you, let alone buy insurance from you!

Tip For Selling Insurance 8. Measure it so you can manage it. Effective insurance marketing comes from the process of testing and measuring. It’s impossible to know if your marketing is on track or not unless you can accurately measure the feedback it generates.

What are your clients actually worth to your business? Yes, every person is priceless, but in business terms, you need to know what your business networks actually generate for you and your business.

So, measure what all your insurance marketing costs you (in both time and money) and what are the tangible, bankable results. Either learn how to fix what doesn’t work, or replace it with something that does work to grow your insurance sales.

Tip For Selling Insurance 9. Decide to make a difference. Decide what bothers you, and what keeps you awake at night. And then see what you can do to make a difference in that area.

Anyone can make a difference in the world when they reach out and care about others. There are dozens of ways you can make the world a better place, one step at a time. Help clean up a park; donate school supplies to a needy school; get involved in an organization that’s making a difference in your community; refuse to give up; and much more.

Dare to set an example that others can follow. Dare to be great. And dare to set goals for selling insurance that only you can achieve. Remember: “People do business with and recommend people that they know, like, and trust.” And that person should be you!
