2/2/2022 – Dear fellow agents and advisors; I am very disappointed with most of the insurance companies, agencies, and sales trainers in our industry. Because most of them today just train agents and advisors to make quick life insurance sales – for quick profits. Instead of taking a little more time to train them on how to use cash-value life insurance to really help people. Forty years ago our industry sales trainers spent a lot of time training agents to do a complete client fact find with everyone they met with. So they could find out what people needed and wanted. Then they would show agents how to help people to find the money to buy the life insurance they needed and wanted!

Learn How To Use Cash Value Life Insurance To Really Help People!

For example, when I joined Met Life in 1982, I had to go to the head office for one week of preappointment training. Before I could meet with clients. I was also required to join NAIFA and attend their LUTC classes. In all that training we spent a lot of time learning about whole life insurance, and how to use it to really help people. (Save for retirement, college, bank, etc.) We also spent a lot of time on how to do a complete client fact find. As a result, with the help of a few mentors, I was able to lead my office in life insurance sales. Because I knew how to help my clients (people) to find the money to buy life insurance.

When I became a branch manager for Met Life in 1989, they had stopped the one week of preappointment training. Now they wanted you to wait 3 to 6 months to see if you could sell before they sent you to only 3 days of training in the home office. Accordingly, I decided to spend a lot of time training the new agents I hired on how to use cash-value life insurance to really help people. I also spent a lot of time training agents on how to do a complete client fact find. And then how to help agents to find the money, so the client can buy life insurance.

As a result, I hired 23 new agents over 4 years. And 10 years later 18 of those agents were still in the business. And they were all making over $100,000 per year. Consider this was in the late ’90s!

The amazing part to me is that learning how to do a complete client fact find, to really help people, and to find the money to buy life insurance is not all that hard to do.
