What Would Change If You Had Someone to Call When You Got Stuck?
You Don’t Always Need More Information. Sometimes You Need Help With the Problem Right in Front of You.
Last week, I talked about agents always starting over.
New lead source. New script. New CRM. New marketing idea. New AI tool.
But there is another reason agents keep hunting for the next answer.
They get stuck.
A prospect throws an objection you did not see coming.
A case does not go the way you expected.
Your leads stop answering.
You have a great first appointment, but cannot get the prospect back for the second one.
You know something is off in your presentation, but you cannot put your finger on it.
So you do what any reasonable person in 2026 would do. You start searching.
Google. YouTube. Facebook groups. ChatGPT. Old training courses. The agent down the hall.
And a lot of the time, insurance prospects ghosting is the thing that sent you looking in the first place.
Sometimes you find a useful answer.
Sometimes you find five different answers and walk away more confused than when you started.
I have been in this business for more than 30 years. One of the most valuable things an agent can have is not another course.
It is somewhere to go when you get stuck.
The Problems That Cost You Money Are Real Ones
Say you just walked out of an appointment.
You thought it went great. They liked you. They agreed there was a problem. Your recommendation made sense.
Then they said, “We want to think about it.”
Now what?
You could study a two-hour objections course. You could search for a closing script. You could ask AI for 20 comebacks to “I need to think about it.”
Those resources might help a little.
But what you really want to know is this:
What happened in my appointment?
- Was it really an objection?
- Did you show the plan too soon?
- Did you miss something in fact finding?
- Was the spouse involved?
- Did the prospect understand the problem?
- Did they have a reason to act now?
- Did your recommendation connect to what they told you?
The answer might have almost nothing to do with the words you said at the end.
That is why a general answer only gets you so far. Sometimes somebody has to look at what actually happened.
Knowing What to Do and Knowing What to Do Next Are Not the Same
Most agents with a few years in the business know a lot.
They understand insurance. They have attended product training, watched webinars, downloaded scripts, and taken sales courses.
They can explain what a good sales process should look like.
But knowing what to do in general is not the same as knowing what to do next.
You have a prospect with $500,000 sitting in a CD. What should the next conversation sound like?
You have called an old lead three times and heard nothing. Do you keep going, or change your follow-up approach?
A client wants to replace a policy. What should you ask before discussing another option?
You are getting 10 appointments a month and writing two cases. Where is the leak?
You are spending $2,000 a month on leads and cannot tell whether the leads are the problem or your process is.
Those are not classroom questions.
Those are Tuesday afternoon questions.
And Tuesday afternoon questions are the ones that decide what you make this year.
The Internet and AI Does Not Know Your Business

There is more information available than ever. That can be useful.
But Google does not know how your last appointment went.
YouTube does not know your closing ratio.
A Facebook group does not know what you said during your fact finder.
AI does not know you have switched lead companies four times in 12 months without changing how you set the appointment.
A sales course does not know you have three cases sitting on your desk that you are unsure how to handle.
The information might be good.
It just does not know your situation.
Your situation is everything.
That is why two agents can ask the same question and need completely different answers. One may need better lead generation. Another may need to slow down, ask better questions, and stop presenting before the prospect is ready.
And when insurance prospects ghosting becomes a pattern, the right answer may not be another lead source. It may be a closer look at the conversation that came before the silence.
Sometimes You Are Asking the Wrong Question
This happens all the time in coaching.
An agent shows up certain he knows the problem.
“I need better leads.”
Maybe.
So we start asking:
- How many leads are you receiving?
- How quickly are you contacting them?
- How many do you actually reach?
- How many conversations become appointments?
- How many appointments show up?
- How many become clients?
Pretty soon, we may discover the leads are not the biggest problem. Something else is breaking.
Or the agent says, “I need a better closing script.”
Then we walk through the appointment and discover the sale was lost 30 minutes before the close ever started. Which is usually the real story behind insurance prospects ghosting after a meeting that felt great.
Before you blame insurance prospects ghosting, find out whether the prospect ever felt understood, involved, and clear about the next step.
Sometimes you do not need a better answer.
You need to find the real problem.
Revisit the Seven-Step Sales Process
When an appointment feels stuck, go back through the process in order:
- Get the facts.
- Get the goal.
- Get the why.
- Get the priority.
- Say it back.
- Ask permission.
- Then present.
This is also where insurance sales scripts should be used correctly. Scripts are learning tools that help you understand conversation dynamics. They are not lines you memorize and recite like a robot auditioning for a sales commercial.
Learn the framework.
Listen carefully.
Adapt to the person in front of you.
You Cannot See Your Own Blind Spots

This is not just an insurance thing.
Pro athletes have coaches. Business owners hire advisors. Executives have mentors. Golfers take lessons.
Not because they know nothing.
Usually, it is the opposite. They are already good.
But it is hard to see yourself clearly.
You know what you meant to say. You know what you thought the prospect meant. You know why you made the recommendation.
Someone looking from the outside might catch what you missed:
- A question you never asked.
- Something you assumed.
- The moment you started talking too much.
- A door you walked right past.
- The same mistake showing up in appointment after appointment.
You do not get that from another PDF.
A golf instructor can see your swing path while you are busy watching the ball. A coach can often see the conversation pattern while you are busy defending your intentions.
This Is What I Want Insurance Pro Shop to Be
I do not want Insurance Pro Shop to be one more website where you log in and watch videos.
Yes, we have training, scripts, presentations, lead resources, courses, sales systems, case design help, and practical tools.
Those things matter.
But that is not what makes us different.
I want Insurance Pro Shop to be the place you go when you get stuck.
An appointment did not close? Bring it.
The same objection keeps beating you? Let us talk about it with an objection framework.
A case has you guessing? Bring it.
Leads are not working? Let us examine the numbers.
You are getting appointments but no sales? Let us find where the conversation is falling apart.
Not sure what to say? Let us work through it.
That is why we have weekly live insurance sales coaching.
The goal is not to give you more information.
The goal is to help you use it.
Watching Is Not Doing
You can watch golf for 100 hours. That will not get you to par.
You can watch cooking shows every night. That still will not make you a chef.
And you can watch hundreds of hours of insurance sales training without getting much better at selling.
At some point, you have to go do it.
Then look back.
- What worked?
- What did not?
- What did the prospect say?
- Where did you get uncomfortable?
- What did you miss?
- What would you do differently next time?
Then go do it again.
Learn. Try it. Look back. Fix it. Do it again.
Not this:
Learn. Learn. Learn. Buy another course. Learn some more.
Picture Having Somewhere to Take the Problem

Think back over the last month.
How many times did something come up in your business and you were not sure what to do?
A prospect. A case. An objection. A lead source. A marketing idea. A difficult client conversation. A presentation that fell flat. A follow-up that went nowhere. A business decision.
Now picture this.
Instead of sitting there trying to figure it out alone, you think:
“I’ll bring this to coaching Thursday.”
That is what we are building inside Insurance Pro Shop.
Not because I have a magic answer to every problem. I do not.
But after 30 years, I have probably seen a lot of what you are dealing with.
And if I have not?
We will figure it out together.
That is what insurance sales coaching should be. When insurance prospects ghosting becomes a recurring headache, bring the pattern to coaching instead of automatically buying another solution.
For Agents Who Want More One-on-One Help
Some agents need more than weekly group coaching.
They want somebody looking closely at their numbers, marketing, sales process, and production.
That is why I also work privately with a small number of agents.
We have 2 private coaching spots opening October 1.
This is for agents who want hands-on help finding what is holding them back and building a plan around their own business.
If that is what you have been looking for, now is the time to reach out.

Once those two are filled, enrollment closes for this group.
You Do Not Have to Know Everything
Agents put way too much pressure on themselves to have every answer.
You do not have to.
Your clients do not expect you to know everything. You should not expect yourself to solve every sales, marketing, case, and business problem alone.
What matters is knowing where to find the answer and having people around you who can help you work through it.
That is true whether you have been in the business six months or 30 years.
“If you want to succeed, in life or in business, education isn’t optional. It’s how you grow, how you sharpen your skills, and how you learn to make better decisions.”
Lew Nason
The goal is not to know everything.
The goal is to keep getting better.
What Would Change If You Did Not Have to Figure It Out Alone?
Think about that for a minute.
Not another course.
Not another hundred scripts.
Not another folder of PDFs you will get to someday.
A place to bring the problems you are dealing with right now.
That is what I want Insurance Pro Shop to be for you.
If you have been reading this series and seeing yourself in these articles, maybe it is time to stop only reading about getting better.

Common Questions About Insurance Sales Coaching
What is insurance sales coaching?
It’s help using your sales skills in real situations. That can mean prospecting, appointments, fact finding, presentations, objections, closing, follow-up, working through cases, and other problems in your business.
How is coaching different from training?
Training teaches you ideas and systems. Coaching looks at what’s actually happening in your business and helps you figure out what to work on next.
Can experienced agents get something out of coaching?
Yes. Years in the business don’t get rid of blind spots. Experienced agents use coaching to look at their sales process, marketing, cases, and the problems that are hard to spot on their own.
What should I bring to a coaching session?
Real stuff works best. An appointment that didn’t close. An objection. A tough case. Leads that aren’t working. A follow-up problem. A marketing question. Anywhere your production has stalled.
Does coaching mean I don’t have to do the work?
No. Coaching gives you a fresh look, ideas, feedback, and somebody holding you to it. You still have to go do it.
