Selling Final Expense Insurance… There Are Better and Much Easier Life Insurance Selling Strategies!
11/19/2019… Dear Friends; What follows is what we have learned from a few of the best agents, who had been selling final expense insurance for over 10 years! These insurance agents were all making a net income of around $80,000 per year. But, they came to us for help! Because they were burned out from working long hours. And then traveling all over their state. There are better strategies to sell Life Insurance!
What we have learned from those agents is that selling final expense insurance is one of the hardest ways for you to make a good living selling life insurance! Why!
Companies That Are Selling Final Expense Insurance
- Require you to purchase leads at $20-$50 per lead. This means you need a minimum of 30 leads just to set the recommended 15 sales appointments per week… then you will spend $600 – $1,500 per week on final expense leads. Or, you will take a commission cut to get your final expense leads.
- Are using direct mail or the Internet to get their final expense leads. Now, who do you think is more likely to respond to a sales letter or an ad for final expense insurance? Is it going to be the people who are shopping for the best price? Or maybe it will be the people who know they need life insurance… because they have a health problem? So, these people will submit their information to multiple sources… trying to find the best deal. As a result, you will have multiple agents calling the same final expense leads. Which will make it hard for you to get a sales appointment.
- Have a problem getting enough final expense leads in a local area. So, most agents are forced to travel all over their county and state… to see enough people. If they want to make more than an average income selling life insurance! Gas, meals, and hotels will cost you $600 or more per week!
- Attract the people who are at the lower end of the economic scale. Accordingly, your average commission per sale is about $600. So, just to cover your final expense leads and travel costs you will need to make at least two sales per week, just to break even! This also means that to make $60,000 per year… you will need to sell a minimum of 4 life insurance policies per week!
The Problems With Selling Final Expense Insurance!
- Have a problem with low persistence. When you are dealing with people at the lower end of the economic scale. Then you will get a lot of lapses from buyer’s remorse, etc! So, you need to sell more final expense insurance policies to cover those lapses.
- You are selling final expense insurance based on price? So, if the agent who comes in after you, has a lower price. Then they will replace your policy! So, you need to sell, even more, to cover any replaced final expense insurance policies.
- Do not have a great sales presentation for selling final expense insurance. So, even the best agents are only closing 40-50% of the people they meet with!
- Have a failure rate for new agents of over 90%. Mainly, because most of those insurance agents did not receive the sales training and sales support they were promised!
And the sad truth is, that most of the IMOs and FMOs that are selling final expense insurance are more interested in making a lot of money for themselves and not the agent!
So, we do not recommend selling final expense insurance from any of the people that are selling or providing you with final expense life insurance leads.
And we do not recommend selling final expense insurance for any agent… who wants to sell life insurance full-time! Or, for anyone that wants to make a net income of more than $35,000 a year.
However, if you want to make it a lot easier for you to sell final expense insurance. And you want to close a lot more sales. Then you will want to do a full fact-find with everyone. So you can help them to find the money to take action. It will also help you to have a lot fewer lapses!
