Step 1. Decide Who You Want To Work With. Find out what those prospects need and want! So that you can determine the best ways to attract those people to you! What problems do they face now and in the future? How do those people prefer to be contacted? What information are they most interested in? Which will tell you what questions they will have? Use all of this information to make sure you attract the most qualified prospects for your products and services to make big money selling life insurance!
This Sales Process Is About You Asking Life Insurance Sales Questions!
Step 2. Ask Prospects The Right Sales Questions. Now when you speak with your qualified prospects… to set a sales appointment… or in the fact-find… you will want to ask open-ended questions. Do not assume you know about the prospects’ concerns and the problems they face. And do not assume you know what is best for your qualified prospects! This is a huge mistake! Your objective is to ask enough sales questions, to get your prospects to tell you exactly what they need and want. So, now it will be their idea, not yours! As a result, you will build almost immediate trust with your qualified prospects.
You will want to ask questions that start with the words Who, What, Where, When, How, and Why! You will also want to avoid questions that start with words like… do, are, you, and can! Because these types of questions tend to lead to yes or no answers, which is a response you want to avoid!
The first goal of asking sales questions is to discover what the prospect’s goals are. Next, do they have a plan to reach those goals? Then what are the challenges that stop them from putting their plan into action? And then what is their timeline to reach their goals?
In addition, you need to uncover… where they spend their money. So that you can help them to find the money to start their plan! You can find all of this information. But only if you do a good thorough fact find and you ask enough of the right sales questions with qualified prospects.
Asking enough of the right sales questions in the life insurance sales process is one of your greatest sales tools! It is how you will make big money selling life insurance!

Step 3. Listen To Your Prospects. The most important part of the sales process is listening carefully to what the prospect tells you. This is what separates the typical salesperson, from the sales professional! Note, that we are talking about active listening, not passive listening. Active listening is when you focus on the person talking! So you are ready to respond and ask more questions about what they have said. Because you want to make sure that you and the prospect understand what the other is saying.
As you practice active listening, you will want to write down everything that the prospect says. All of the information you get will help you to qualify the prospect and then close the sale. You will also want to pay attention to their body language and level of enthusiasm. Those elements will help you decide what your next move should be. Listening to your prospects is a huge key to making big money selling life insurance!
Step 4. Educate Your Prospects. As you actively listen, you should look for opportunities to educate your prospects! Note that this is not about educating your prospect about your product or service! This is about helping your prospect to fully understand the problems they have and will face. Then it is helping them to learn how to overcome their challenges. So that you can help them to build a plan to reach their goals.
However, this may or may not involve the use of your products or services. Your focus should be to help the prospect, no matter what!!!
You must be careful not to give them too much information… Or get too technical! Because you will run the risk of confusing and/or overwhelming them. So you must balance the knowledge you give, with the insurance sales questions you ask… And the answers you get back from them. Educate your qualified prospects on the problems they face to make big money selling life insurance!
Build A Solid, Trusted Reputation To Make The Big Money Selling Life Insurance!
Step 5. Qualify Your Prospects. During each phase of the life insurance sales process, you will ask questions to qualify the prospect for your products and services. Now because you did such a good job in Deciding Who You Want To Work With! Almost all of your prospects will qualify for your products and services! However, you will always have a few people who will not be a fit for your products and services!
But, keep in mind that an unqualified prospect is just as good as a qualified prospect. Because an unqualified prospect gives you a chance to help people and be friendly. And if you do a good job, then they will talk to their friends and family about you. This will help you to build a solid, trusted reputation! But, don’t try to close unqualified prospects. As it will just hurt them! And IT WILL ruin your reputation in the long run.
Qualified prospects, of course, give you the chance to really help people, build a relationship, and make a sale. So, the sooner you identify a prospect that is not the right fit for your product or service, the better. Because you want to spend most of your time and pay the most attention to your qualified prospect. It is how you will make big money selling life insurance!
Step 6. Close The Sale. You have asked lots of insurance sales questions. Your qualified prospects have told you exactly what they need and want. Now you will want to help them to decide on the best solutions for their concerns and problems. And then you will want to help them to find the money to take action! As a result, it should be fairly easy to close the sale.
However, if they stall during the closing step, it means you did not ask them enough questions. You did not dig deep enough into their situation. So at this point in the life insurance sales process, you need to ask more questions.
“If you don’t mind me asking… what’s stopping you from proceeding?”
“What did I miss?”
“What happens if you aren’t able to reach your goal?”
“Now what happens if you can’t execute your plan or overcome your challenges?”
The closing process should feel natural to both you and the prospect.
Because you are closing sales with the prospects that are the right fit for your business. Your retention rate on those new clients will be high. You will also have fewer lapsed policies and fewer commission chargebacks.
You will start to close more sales and much larger sales! And then you will have the opportunity for backend and repeat sales.
