Why We Train Insurance Agents To Serve/Help Middle-Income Families!
Dear Friends… Some of the most common questions we are asked… “Why are your prices so low?” “What’s in it for you?” “If what you are teaching works so well, then why aren’t you in personal production selling life insurance?” and “Why are you pushing us to Serve/Help Middle-Income Families?” The answer is… There is a lot in it for us to help and train insurance agents to serve/help middle-income families. But, before I get into that, let me give you a little background.
Over the past 30 to 40 years there has been a very serious breakdown of the financial services training and industry support organizations to serve/help middle-income families. The industry, as a whole, does a very poor job of training insurance Agents, and Advisors. It’s now become mostly about selling investments and investment returns. Because selling investments appears to be an easier sale. That is where the companies believe they can make the most money in the short and long term.
Many insurance companies are no longer willing to spend the time or money needed to promote industry support and agent training organizations like NAIFA. They are not willing to train and help agents and advisors to learn how to ethically market their services, and serve/help middle-income families. So they can help them to spend, save, invest, insure, and plan wisely for the future. So they can achieve financial independence.
This lack of insurance agent training to serve/help middle-income families has created a very serious problem in our industry. It’s one of the main reasons why most agents only earn $30,000-$40,000 per year after expenses selling life insurance! And it’s why agents and advisors are lucky if they make it 5 years in this industry. Now most agents, managers, and companies out there have a misconception of what this business is really about. They now believe that their business is just about their products and making sales to earn the highest commissions and fees available.
Why Serve/Help Middle-Income Families?
Unfortunately, this type of thinking is what promotes client deception, replacement of existing policies, piggybacking of policies, and all of the other less-than-ethical sales practices we see today. These less-than-ethical sales practices are also the major reason for all the compliance regulations and lawsuits! Along with the negative publicity the financial industry receives. Additionally, what little help and training insurance agents get is not geared toward serving/helping middle-income families. Instead, the financial services industry is concentrating its efforts on servicing the ‘Top 10%’ of the US population, the wealthy. Because that is where they believe they can make the most money. They appear to have forgotten they have been serving/helping middle-income families for the past century. And selling life insurance to serve/help middle-income families is where they made the majority of their money.
Consequently, most agents and advisors are NOT getting the insurance sales training, help, and support they need. And they are not focused on serving/helping middle-income families. The majority of agents and advisors – don’t know what they don’t know! The only insurance training that the majority of these agents and advisors receive today is their company training, which again teaches them to do whatever it takes to sell the most profitable services and insurance products that they can get away with.
Do you know what has resulted from this? A 90% insurance agent failure rate in this industry! Then when an agent fails, who ends up getting hurt the most – the clients? There is NO one to service middle-income families and help keep them on track to reach their financial goals! That hurts all of us!
